Minimal care is required. Dust with a dry cloth, or for a deeper clean, simply loosen the set screws and slide the branch free from the wall — inner rod and all — hose it off outside, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Avoid furniture polish or chemical cleaners.

Yes. All branches are treated with disodium octaborate tetrahydrate — a borate-based compound closely related to borax. It's a low-toxicity, EPA-registered treatment that works by disrupting the digestive systems of wood-boring insects, making the wood effectively indigestible to them. For indoor use, the protection is long-lasting. It presents minimal risk to humans and pets.
